THE PEEL PROCEDURE

  • A. WE ASK THAT YOU REM,O VE YOUR CONTACT LENSES BEFORE THE PEEL
  • B. REMOVE ALL MAKE UP AND CLEANS FACE.( WE PROVIDE MAKE UP REMOVER AND GENTLE CLEANSER)
  • C. APPLICATION OF THE PEEL TAKES ABOUT 2 MINUTES.
  • D. AFTER PEEL IS APPLIED YOU WILL EXPERIENCE MILD STINGING AS THE PEEL PENETRATES YOUR SKIN. THIS LASTS ONLY A COUPLE OF MINUTES.
  • E. THE PEEL STAYS ON YOUR FACE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THEN YOU WILL RINSE IT OFF.
  • F. AFTER THE PEEL, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE SOME TINGLING. THIS IS NORMAL.

AFTER THE PEEL

  • A. FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER THE PEEL, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE YOUR SKIN FEELS VERY TIGHT, THIS IS YOUR SKINS NATURAL REACTION TO THE PEEL.
  • B. NEXT 3 TO 7 DAYS YOUR SKIN MAY APPEAR RED, YOU MAY HAVE SLIGHT STINGING, BURNING OR ITCHING.
  • C. YOUR SKIN MAY BEGIN TO PEEL HO 4 DAYS AFTER THE PEEL
  • D. THE PEEL STIMULATES YOUR SKIN TO IMPROVE THE RATE AT WHICH IT PRODUCES NEW CELLS AND SHEDS OFF OLD ONES.
  • E. WHETHER YOU PEEL OR NOT IS DETERMINED BY HOW FAST YOUR SKIN ADAPTS TO THE PEEL.

POSSIBLE NEGATIVE REACTIONS TO SALICYLIC ACID PEEL

  • A. TREATMENT MAY CAUSE A FLARE OF HERPES SIMPLEX (COLD SORES) IN PATIENTS W/ HX OF HERPES SIMPLEX
  • B. AN ACNE FLARE
  • C. MILD SKIN INFLAMMATION
  • D. TEMPORARY SPOTS OF INCREASED OR DECREASED PIGMENTATION THAT WILL NATURALLY RESOLVE THEMSELVES W/IN FOUR WEEKS.
  • E. TEMPORARY INCREASE IN SKIN SENSETIVITY.
  • F. CONSIDERABLE PEELING.

POST PEEL DIRECTION

  1. APPLY A MILD MOISTURIZING LOTION SUCH AS DML TWICE A DAY OR AS NEEDED.
  2. MAKE SURE TO USE SUNSCREEN AND AVOID PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE SUN
  3. DO NOT SCRUB FACE AND USE A GENTLE SOAP LESS CLEANSER LIKE CETAPHIL.
  4. RESIST ANY URGE TO PEEL, PICK OR SCRATCH, THIS COULD CAUSE SCARRING.
  5. DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER FACIAL TREATMENTS FOR A WEEK

  • A. PEELS CAN BE SCHEDULED 4 TO 6 WEEKS APART.
  • B. WE RECOMMEND STARTING WITH A SERIES OF 3.
